Running Accomplishments:

Over the last 6 years, I have run in various 5k's, 10k's, (3) Grand Rapids River Bank 25k's (largest in US) and (1) marathon in 2006 @ 3:41. My 3rd 25k (2007) was in 1:53:32 (7:18 pace), good enough for 2nd place out of 88 runner's in the Clydesdale class for men under 40, over 200lbs. My 4th River Bank 25k run is on May 10 and I am shooting for a 1:49 (7:00) time. I want to qualify for Boston 2009 some time later this year, possibly at the Grand Rapids marathon in Oct.'08. I am starting this blog with the hope that I can get the support needed to beat the required time of 3:20:59 (I'll be 41 years old at this time) in order for me to qualify.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Qualify for Boston in 2009.

Long-Term Running Goals:

As long as my body can take it, being able to put in the miles that allows me to stay fit for my age and maintain my weight.

Personal:

Married 14 years, 3 children (2 boys, 1 girl).

I had a tough race this year. My Garmin GPS messed up at the beginning and was telling me I was running a 7:30 pace when in reality I was running a 6:30. It took me a couple miles in the heat of battle to figure this out unfortunately and it hurt me later. I know, I know, I should have realized how fast I was going. I'm OK with it as I still finished in the top 3, which gets me a medal and free entry into the 25k next year. Like my mott goes..."Every run is a good run".
